Step for the Future project supported by Erasmus+ KA220-YOU – Cooperative Partnerships in the Youth Sector.
An educational programme that helps prepare young people for their life choices, entrepreneurship and the needs of the future labour market.
The Step for the Future project, in cooperation with international partners from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine, is creating a training programme that helps to prepare young people for their life choices, entrepreneurship and the needs of the future labour market through innovative methodologies.
The programme develops the potential of young people and helps them to acquire key competences and skills necessary for a better future in their professional and private life. By promoting entrepreneurship, soft skills and gaining important experience already during their studies at secondary school, we enable young people to be one step ahead – to gain the courage to create a better future and the prerequisites for an improved quality of life.
International team
An international team of expert partners is developing a methodology for a pilot educational programme, with the primary aim of complementing secondary school subjects dedicated to the development of entrepreneurial competences with areas that are not addressed in secondary education. You can see how the testing was carried out as an example of good practice. The curriculum is designed to be both attractive to young people, innovative and sufficiently applicable to digital learning.
Associated secondary schools
then test and evaluate the programme and redesign it on the basis of the results of the validation in practice. The intention is also to accredit the educational programme so that it can be applied in the future in secondary schools and educational institutions, especially in Slovakia and Ukraine. The training also includes the development of youth workers and educators in those areas that allow for better implementation and delivery of the educational programme in non-formal education institutions as well as in secondary and higher education institutions. The lecturers we have already trained can be found in the Poole lecturers.
The innovative way of education uses the principles of learning by doing, experiential learning with the combined use of digital learning elements. By engaging international partners we share mutual experiences, best practices, but also understand regional, economic and cultural differences.
After completing the programme, young people gain the skills and experience necessary for entrepreneurship, but also the needs of the labour market of the future. The development and acquisition of pupils’ experience in the following topics is encouraged:
- entrepreneurship development,
- soft skills,
- project management,
- presentation skills,
- teamwork,
- planning,
- assertive communication,
- as well as critical thinking,
- which is financial literacy,
which they also put into practice. The methodologies created are freely available to inspire you and make it easier for you to take the time to prepare an interesting lesson for the youth (link to methodologies) (generic picture of non-formal education training)
In the context of cross-sectoral cooperation and the achievement of youth entrepreneurship development goals, we create a space for open access to the training programme, sharing experiences and networking between organisations and professionals who share an interest in increasing the entrepreneurial competence of young people.
By sharing the personal experiences of trained trainers through the forum, the project outputs are accessible to educators and secondary schools who wish to apply them in their curriculum. This way of structuring education is a motivation for us precisely because we want it to be practical and directly applicable to practice and life.
